My entry into the Eve Online Contest.

Basically a Battle ship/Carrier Hybrid type warship featuring heavy guns and a large air-wing compliment.

Dimensions: Length - 623 Meters

Width - 214 meters

Height - 206 Meters

Modeled & Textured Using Maya 2010. Texture and final Composite image made in Photo Shop CS4.

it would be a great concept that replaces the aging cyno jammer (at a larger scale), at least in my opinion, the ship doesnt look like any known building design by any of the 4 races, it could be a combined effort but that'll never happen, its a great design no mistaking, but it doesnt quite fit the theme, maybe the caldari to a degree but i dunno, plus a battleship/carrier cross is far too OP, that would mean, extra firepower from both battleship guns and drones, plus drones can be good for smaller ships and the guns on bigger ships, you effectively made a concept thats nearly untouchable, sry to say but its probably never going to be applied to eve since their main goal is to keep the game balanced while still dishing out new content.. (plus imagine the cpu and pwr requirements for it o_o.. shocking.. anyway good model design, keep up the good work :) try researching on existing designs first and maybe read into the lore if you can, it might help :D

When i was designing the ship i didn't really expect (in the event that my design won) that they would actually make it a carrier battleship, i primarily designed it as a carrier, with the Caldari theme in mind. But perhaps that's why my ship wasn't considered. Thanks for the feedback.

Is this you're fantasy? A battleship class hull capable of launching fighters?

Because CCP won't do it, good concept art though :)

Such Ships are not untouchable, Battlestars like the Galactica, the Ships in Stargate, the Freaking Andromeda Ascendant! All these Ships are primary Warships but double as fucking big Fighter Carriers. They have big Guns and their Fighters go and fight of other Fighters, it is a Concept even the Guys in Star Wars use to an Extent as much as i know.
We learned in WWII that a Warship, even if it is the Ship with the biggest Firepower known, can easily be defeated if the Enemy comes with a Bunch of Fighters, the Fucking Bismark was dissabled by Doubledecker Bombers and it was the Ship with the most Attillery in Hystory.
Now in Scify it is so that Spaceships go in 3D Terrain against one another. They use mostly large Contingents of Fighters to attack one another or the opposing Fighters while their Mainguns hammer at one another. A True saying is: A Space Warship without it own little Fighter Buddys, is as good as Dead, a sitting Duck, an gigantuan Target while Fighters are much smaller.
And Fighters aren't Drones, they are smaller Craft started by bigger Motherships, Fuck the only Race in Stargate without Fighters are the Asgard and they were, until the Ori come around, the most badass Race in the whole Universe aside of the Alterans (Ancients) and even they had their Fighters in Form of Puddle Jumpers.
Fazit: A fucking big Mothership needs its own Fighter Wing for Action at 100% Capacity, because Fighters are less likely to be shot at by the big Ships and give an Firerate Advantage, who has more Fighters has more Cannons for Attack, even if they are small Cannons

Did you use AO rendering?
Miight also want to consider when making a "beauty shot" to change the lense of the Maya camera, to give a wider effect. I believe it maybe focal length or something like that. The orthos are great, make sure it does not take up too much space to the point where the main beauty shot has to compete with the rest of the images.

Yeah, i rendered an Occlusion pass and composite the image in Photoshop, i didnt do any of the other passes because i could never get it right, and the render sequence would have taken hours, so i just did a simple beauty shot.
